Silkworm Feeding Guide

Silkworm Feeding Guide

Superior Nutrition & Specialized Care

Storage Temp 70°F - 85°F
Primary Food Mulberry Chow
Sensitivity High (Keep Clean)

🧼 Step 1: Hand Hygiene

Silkworms are sensitive to bacteria and oils. Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling them or their food to prevent disease.

🍃 Step 2: Strict Diet

Silkworms only eat Mulberry leaves or prepared Mulberry chow. Never attempt to feed them other vegetables, as it will lead to starvation.

🗑️ Step 3: Waste Removal

Clear out "frass" (waste) and uneaten food daily. Good ventilation and a dry environment are key to preventing mold and keeping the larvae healthy.

🥢 Step 4: Gentle Feeding

Use soft-tipped tongs to pick up silkworms. Their soft bodies are easily bruised, which can be fatal to the worm before your pet can eat it.

The "Golden Rule" of Silkworms

  • The Serrapeptase Boost: Use silkworms as a primary staple for reptiles with bone issues or infections to leverage their natural healing enzymes.
  • No Water Needed: Never mist silkworms or give them water dishes. They get 100% of their hydration from fresh Mulberry chow or leaves.
  • Space to Grow: Avoid overcrowding. If they are too cramped, the humidity rises, which can cause a rapid "die-off" of the colony.

*Silkworms are the highest quality feeder for Chameleons, Bearded Dragons, and picky Geckos.*
