B.S.F.L. Feeding Guide
Handling & Management of the "Calcium King"
🌡️ Step 1: Temp Control
Store your larvae in a cool place (like a wine cooler or a basement). If kept at room temperature, they will pupate and turn into flies within days.
🧼 Step 2: Sift & Serve
BSFL usually arrive in a substrate (organic bedding). Simply sift the worms out or pick them out with tongs. No need to wash them; they are naturally clean.
🚫 Step 3: Skip the Dust
Because their Calcium-to-Phosphorus ratio is naturally 3:1, you do not need to use calcium powder. You may still use a multivitamin occasionally.
🥣 Step 4: Bowl Feeding
Use a feeding dish. While they don't jump or climb well, they can crawl into tight spaces in your enclosure if left to roam free.
The "Golden Rule" of B.S.F.L.
- Don't Panic if they Turn Black: This is the "prepupal" stage. They are still highly nutritious and contain the highest calcium levels at this stage.
- Zero Maintenance: You do not need to feed BSFL once you receive them. They live off the energy stored in their bodies from their growth phase.
- Humidity Alert: Keep the substrate dry. If it gets wet, the larvae can climb the sides of the container and escape.
*B.S.F.L. are the gold standard for preventing MBD in Bearded Dragons and Chameleons.*
