Feeding Guide
Maximizing Nutrition with Discoid Roaches
🍎 Step 1: Gut Loading
Feed the roaches high-quality fruits, veggies, or professional chow 24 hours before feeding your pet. This turns the roach into a "nutrient bomb."
✨ Step 2: Dusting
Place roaches in a small cup with Calcium or Vitamin D3 powder. Shake gently until they are lightly "powdered" before offering them to your reptile.
📏 Step 3: Sizing
Always choose a roach that is no longer than the space between your reptile's eyes to ensure safe swallowing and digestion.
🥣 Step 4: Presentation
Since Discoids don't climb, you can use a smooth-sided bowl. This keeps the feeders in one spot and prevents them from hiding in the enclosure.
The "Golden Rule" of Feeding
- Remove uneaten feeders: If your pet doesn't eat them within 30 minutes, remove them to prevent stress.
- Hydrate your feeders: Never use standing water (they drown). Use water gel crystals or orange slices.
- Stay Warm: Keep roaches in a dark, warm spot to maintain their metabolism and activity levels.
*Discoid roaches are legal in Florida and are excellent for Bearded Dragons, Chameleons, and Geckos.*
